Enjoy these photos from our last event Paws & Pints in honor of National Pig Day on March 1, 2025 featuring Charlotte from Life with Pigs Farm Sanctuary.
Over the years we’ve loved hosting specialty events to raise awareness of pig sanctuaries and pug rescues.
From Pugs & Pints at local breweries, to Yoga & the Animals at a local sanctuary, to a film screening of The Last Pig, to our signature Pigs, Pugs, & Pinot event at a local winery!

In honor of Giving Day for Apes, we’re Pigs, Pugs & Primates 🦧 for today!
On this special day, we honor and support the incredible work being done to protect and conserve orangutans and chimpanzees. These majestic creatures are critically endangered, and their survival depends on collective efforts to preserve their habitats and prevent further harm.
At Pigs & Pugs (& Primates on this special day!) Project, we’re committed to raising awareness and funds to support pig sanctuaries and pug rescues (plus orangutan and chimpanzee conservation on Giving Day for Apes). From rescuing displaced apes to protecting rainforests to choosing sustainable palm oil—every effort makes a difference in their lives.
Let’s come together to give back on this special day and ensure a brighter, safer future these beautiful beings.
Today we’ve donated $500 to Center for Great Apes in honor of their mission to “provide a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been rescued or retired from the entertainment industry, from research, or from the exotic pet trade.”
We’ve also donated $500 to Jane Goodall Institute who “turns hope into action to protect the natural world we share and create a better future for all through community-led conservation work to protect endangered chimpanzees and other great apes, restore and grow critical habitats, improve human well-being, and empower the next generation of changemakers through Roots & Shoots.“
Please join us in celebrating Giving Day for Apes!
As of September 19, 2025, we’re delighted to share that thanks to your support, Pigs & Pugs Project has donated $3,451 this year to pug rescues and pig sanctuaries! Since our founding in 2016, together we’ve given an incredible $49,120.90 to organizations doing the heart-centered work of saving lives, offering safe haven, and spreading compassion.
Each dollar helps provide food, medical care, shelter, and second chances to our beloved pugs and pigs. Whether it’s funding emergency surgeries, supporting rescue operations, or contributing to sanctuaries that offer pigs the dignity of living out their lives in peace, your generosity makes this possible.
Below is a snapshot of the organizations that have benefited from your kindness over the years. From Homeward Bound to Pacific Pug Rescue to Life with Pigs and beyond, these donations ripple out to touch countless lives.
We are deeply grateful to each of you who has donated, attended an event, or shared our mission with others. Your commitment ensures that these beautiful beings are seen, cared for, and celebrated.
Here’s to continuing this journey of compassion—one pug and one pig at a time!

In response to the devastating wildfires spreading across California, we applaud those tireless responders—the volunteers, transporters, rescuers, fosters, the sanctuaries and rescues—who are working around the clock to help animals in need. With countless number of pets who have been displaced, lost, or separated from their homes, that need is tremendous.
Pigs & Pugs is happy to share a $500 micro-grant with LA-based Pug Queen Foundation, which cares (and is financially responsible) for over 100 pugs in the area, to help with the most urgent needs at this unprecedented time.
In honor of Pigsgiving, we’re delighted to have support one pig for a year’s worth of feeding at Outsiders Farm & Sanctuary in Bowersville, Georgia.
Learn more about their work and consider offering your support of their Pigsgiving campaign.

Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Pigs & Pugs is honored to share a $500 micro-grant with The Sanctuary at Soledad, a farm animal sanctuary in Mayo, Florida that specializes in rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abused animals.
Hurricane Helene ripped through their property damaging all but one small barn. Miraculously, all of their animals survived unscathed. They were transferred to the most sturdy barn, the smaller one, where they huddled together during incredible winds topping over 100 mph+.
Sanctuary founders Julian and Carol Pearce have been candid in their struggles about the daunting work ahead—which includes needing to pour the concrete foundation, frame the new barn, along with constructing walls, overhangs, and roof.
We want to share the news of their considerable need—but also their resiliency–and invite our followers to generously donate as you’re able.

We’re delighted to share that in 2023 we donated $7050 to pig sanctuaries and pug rescues. Thanks for your support toward our mission to make the lives of pigs and pugs happier and healthier. You’ll find our 2023 annual report (and past year’s, too) here.
-
- 1 cup oat flour (or whole wheat flour if your dog is not sensitive to it)
- 1/4 cup peanut butter, all-natural (ensure the only ingredient is peanuts)
- 1/2 cup cooked sweet potato, mashed (or 100% pure pumpkin puree)
INSTRUCTIONS
-
- Preheat your oven to 400ºF/200ºC and prepare a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Stir together mashed sweet potato and all-natural peanut butter (no sweeteners or additives)
- Add the flour. If using oat flour you can make it yourself by just grinding quick or rolled oats into a flour using a food processor. If your dog is not sensitive to wheat feel free to use whole wheat flour.
- Mix the flour into the wet ingredients with a spoon or your hands until fully combined. The dough will be a little sticky but I find it pretty easy to roll out. If the dough seems too dry you can add a splash of water or oat milk. If the dough is too sticky to roll out just add a bit more flour.
- Transfer the dough to a silicone mat or sheet of wax paper and roll out to between ¼” and ½” thickness. (Placing another piece of wax paper on top of the dough can make it easier to roll if it’s sticky). Cut out your treats using a biscuit cutter of your choosing or simply slice the dough into small square treats. Keep in mind that as there are no rising agents in this dough so the thickness of the biscuit at this stage will be the thickness of the cooked biscuit.
- Transfer the cut-out treats to your lined baking tray and bake at 400 degrees F for 12-15 minutes. For softer treats bake for 10-12 minutes and for crunchier treats bake for 15 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely and store in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to one week or freeze for up to 2 months.
30 minutes, yields 40-50 cookies
