Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, Pigs & Pugs is honored to share a $500 micro-grant with The Sanctuary at Soledad, a farm animal sanctuary in Mayo, Florida that specializes in rescuing and rehabilitating injured and abused animals.
Hurricane Helene ripped through their property damaging all but one small barn. Miraculously, all of their animals survived unscathed. They were transferred to the most sturdy barn, the smaller one, where they huddled together during incredible winds topping over 100 mph+.
Sanctuary founders Julian and Carol Pearce have been candid in their struggles about the daunting work ahead—which includes needing to pour the concrete foundation, frame the new barn, along with constructing walls, overhangs, and roof.
